Oma’s Pumpkin Patch

One of our favorite fall activities is visiting a pumpkin patch

Yes, you can just buy a pumpkin at the grocery store and carve it up to set out for Halloween. But when you have kids, visiting a local pumpkin patch just adds to the fun and spirit of this time of year.

We visited Oma’s Pumpkin Patch in Lakeside with our homeschool co-op recently. You can go with a group; you can go with just your family. We spent almost three hours there enjoying the many, many activities available. For just $8 per child (and one adult per child is free), the kids ran through the hay maze, slid down the cotton seed hill, petted the goats, went on a hay ride, played games, and picked out a small pumpkin. What a fun adventure!

Oma’s is more than a pumpkin patch. It is a working dairy farm. The hay ride took us up to see the dairy cows, where a new calf was born just seven days earlier. There is much to learn as well as enjoy while visiting Oma’s.
