CA’s Hidden Treasures Within the Central Valley

I love Fresno's airport and being greeted by these giant Sequoia trees!

CA’s Hidden Treasures Within the Central Valley.

About a week ago, we flew with our two girls (another blog will be dedicated to our stressful and exhausting flight experience) to our home state of California. Other than telling you the obvious tourist spots to hit while visiting the Central Valley, I have provided a list of hidden treasures that cost little to no money:

  • Fresno’s Yosemite International Airport – It’s a sight to behold and for your inner child to scream in delight! The giant Sequoia tree provides a great photo opportunity.
  • Fresno’s Rotary Storyland & Playland – My kids have had more fun here than our combined and pricey visits to Disneyland and the Magic Kingdom. Save your money and avoid headaches from waiting in lengthy amusement park lines. This favorite childhood venue of mine is now one of my kids’ all time favorite parks. You cannot beat the $5 adult admission fee to Storyland and the excitement Playlands’ amusement rides (roller coasters, paddle boats, a train ride, carousel, etc) offer.

  • Traver’s Bravo Farms Cheese Factory – Yes, they offer the best cheese, tri-tip entrees (at their one of a kind outdoor restaurant), and the yummiest kettle popcorn made on site. But what people fail to discover is the magical backlot that yearns to be explored. This little haven houses friendly animals (turkeys, rabbits, donkeys, a parrot, sheep, and a goat) which you can easily pet and feed. It also boasts a seven story treehouse. We stumbled across this treasure within the past year and always make a point to stop and explore.

  • Tulare’s Palm Bakery – I believe this is one of Tulare’s best kept secrets. My personal favorite is the enormous star cookies. It’s a piece of heaven, so be sure to grab a pink box filled with these delicious baked treats for your drive/ flight home.
