Christmas Door Decoration Ideas

Christmas Tree on the front porch

I am at the end of my Christmas decorating

It looks pretty good, except for my front porch where 4 pumpkins are still parked on the front steps. All I have to work with is a red berry wreath. I’m looking for some simple Christmas door decoration ideas that don’t take much decorating skill or time. Here are the results of my search:

This is a front porch Christmas decorating idea from HGTV. Who says Christmas trees belong on the inside? My sister in law did something similar on her porch–just plopped an artificial tree with lights on her front porch and it looks GREAT. I also love the stocking hanging on the door.

I love this Christmas door decorating idea from Southern Living because of the packages on the front porch. I like seeing things that “belong” inside the house sitting right there. This does, however, involve a little more work than the front door. It’s hard to see myself wrapping empty boxes when the real gifts are not even wrapped yet.

Here is another stocking on the door from Better Homes and Gardens. Love this look. I’m wondering how it would look with a wreath behind it.

I like the unexpectedness of a frame on the front door, again from Better Homes and Gardens.

I do not have this many wreaths to spare in my store of Christmas door decorations, but I love the “ta da” power of the Blue Spruce Wreath trio from Martha Stewart.

But in the end, it was the stocking on the door idea that inspired me the most.

I found this stocking and the jingle bells at Big Lots. I tried them against the red berry wreath, but ended up buying a green wreath from Michael’s. (The red berry wreath found a new life on my coffee table.)

It is not going to make the pages of Better Homes and Gardens, but every time I drive up to my home, I think, “Gee whiz I like my front door this year.” The internet has potential to make even the most simple of decorators quite happy.
