2012 Arizona State Fair

The Arizona State Fair is almost here again.

October 12-November 4th is the timeline for this year. This is a great event for Arizona as the heat is in the last stages of winding down for the year and people are searching for things to do outdoors again. One of the attractions this year is the AZ 100 Flag Tour that is working on building the state flag out of legos!

My favorite exhibits with my son are the animals. He always wants to pet them even if he shouldn’t. There is the petting zoo where kids and adults can pet the cute animals. There is also the Butterfly Adventure that most kids love to be a part of. And Behemoth Bugland will delight your kids as they are created with animatronics. Sue Wee Flying Pig Races also delight young kids as they watch pigs race or slowly walk to the finish line. I know my son would love to watch the trains at the Thunderbird Model Railroad Club’s exhibit.

The cheapest way to attend the fair is to go on opening day between noon and 5 pm so you only have to pay $1 a person. Or you can pay $2 before 2 pm on Saturdays and Sundays. $2 rides every Wednesday if you can go during the week.

For those of us old enough to remember when “Thriller” originally came out, there is a Thriller Dance on October 27th. And for those adults that love wine tasting you will want to come November 3rd and 4th to sample from Arizona wineries. There are more exhibits and events so you will need to check out the website for more information.
