Parenting Tips: How to Unwind in 5 Minutes

Life can get crazy busy super fast.

Whether its taking the kids to school or preparing for a work function, the days seem to fly by with things to do. You’re constantly on the go, and sometimes, you just need to relax. Taking five minutes for yourself at least once a day can help keep you happy. Here’s how to unwind in five minutes!

How to Unwind in 5 Minutes

BREATHE DEEPLY.

In with the good, and out with the bad. Focus on your breathing and you will be just breaths away from feeling better.

DRINK HOT TEA.

Tea is not only delicious, but it’s good for you! Some properties of tea have been proven to hold calming effects. There are many varieties of tea such as green, camomile, lavender or English to name a few. So heat up the kettle, sit back and enjoy your tea!

DAYDREAM.

Getting away in your mind can almost be as good as the real thing. Think of a place you love. Close your eyes and imagine yourself there. This is a great way to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

LISTEN TO MUSIC.

Whatever your style of music is, turn it up! Music brings feel good sensors to the brain, which in turn, takes your stresses away. So start singing your favorite tune and get happy.

STAND IN THE SUN.

Pure sunshine (and fresh air) can do amazing things! It actually stimulates your body’s serotonin level to relax you. So take those five minutes you have to unwind and soak up the sun.

GO FOR A WALK.

A five-minute walk in the yard, around the block, or even around your house can get the blood flowing and give you a burst of energy that will help you keep calm and focus on the rest of the day.
