Banish boredom and get ready for school at the same time with these Back to School Crafts for Kids!

Before school gets underway, you may be looking for some rainy summer day activities to keep the kids busy. Making quick crafts will give your kids a chance to show their uniqueness and creativity as well as keeping them occupied for a little while.

Here are five quick crafts your kids will not only love making, but will result in some pretty cool Back-to-School items that they can use during the school year.

5 Quick Back-to-School Crafts for Kids

Pencil toppers

Materials:

  • pencil
  • decorative paper
  • scissors
  • transparent tape

Directions:

  1. Cut a strip of decorative paper 1” x 6” long. If you only have plain paper, decorate it with markers or crayons.
  2. Make 1” snips down the length of one long edge.
  3. Tape the other long edge to the end of your pencil and roll the strip onto the pencil. Secure with another piece of tape.
  4. Gently pull down the snipped pieces and you will have a cool pencil topper!

Personalized Magnetic Class Work Display

Materials:

  • Clipboard
  • magnetic tape
  • permanent markers

Directions:

  1. Using permanent markers, personalize a plain clipboard with your name or initials and whatever design you choose.
  2. Add magnetic tape to the back so you can hang it on the fridge.
  3. Now your class work can be displayed on your own personal easel.

Pen Holder for Locker

Materials:

  • empty individual, cereal box
  • clear packing tape
  • magnetic tape
  • scissors

Directions:

  1. After you are finished eating your individual box of breakfast cereal, don’t throw away that little box! Cut the top off with a pair of scissors and reinforce the entire box by wrapping it in clear packing tape (or colored duct tape if you do not want the cereal logos showing.)
  2. Stick two strips of magnetic tape down the back of the box and you are ready to stick it to your locker and load it with pens.

Dry Erase Locker Mirror

Materials:

  • locker mirror
  • dry erase marker
  • Velcro tape

Directions:

  1. Your locker mirror can become a double duty reminder board as well as place to fix your lip gloss.
  2. Just grab a locker mirror and a dry erase marker.
  3. Using Velcro tape, attach the marker to your board. Done!

Extra Notebook Pocket

Materials:

  • standard notebook
  • packing tape
  • paper
  • scissors

Directions:

  1. You can never have too many pockets when it comes to storing notebook papers. Add an extra pocket to any notebook by cutting a piece of paper ½ the size of your notebook cover and taping it onto the bottom half of the inside cover leaving the top open.
  2. Reinforce the entire pocket by covering the paper completely with either clear packing tape or duct tape.
