Because apparently life wasn't terrifying enough already, a glass skywalk bridge was built on the East Taihang Mountains, in Handan city, north China's Hebei Province. The bridge hangs over 1,100 feet in the air and has a glass bottom that 'cracks' as you walk across it. Yes, you read that correctly: the bottom of the glass bridge that hangs over 11 stories in the air off the side of a mountain CRACKS as you walk across it.
The idea was to make a thrilling experience even more thrilling, but for one tour guide the experience was more terrifying than thrilling and his reaction is pretty much how we ALL would have reacted. And it has gone viral.
While it's easy to chuckle now, it's safe to say that I'm going to keep my feet firmly on the ground and far away from that bridge.
If you're the adventurous sort, though, rest assured that maintenance workers check the integrity of the glass daily and that all cracking should be completely and solely special effects...we hope.
