What you need
Assorted beads in 3 sizes
Elasticated thin thread
To make this project easier to follow we have provided you with diagrams below.
Step 1: Make a slip knot on a matchstick with your elasticated thread. Using your needle pick up bead 1 (head) 2 and 3 (body) 4,5,6 and 7 (leg) 8 (foot). Re-thread through beads 7.6.5.and 4. This makes one leg.
Step 2: Pick up beads 9,10,11,and 12 (second leg) and 13 (second foot) Re-threading through beads 12,11,10 and 9. Then re-thread through beads 3,2 and 1. Both threads should now emerge from the head.
Step 3: Pick up one small bead on one of the threads emerging from the head. Tie the 2 threads together and pick up 4 small beads on both threads and tie the ends to a safety pin.
Step 4: To make the arms dip the end of a pipe cleaner into some craft glue and thread on a bead for the hand. Push on a bead of the same size and then a third bead the same size of the body. Push the pipe cleaner between the two threads just under the head Add 3 more beads in sequence for the other arm gluing the last bead as before. You can add an optional felt clothing such as a skirt wool hair and paint on some facial features.
You can Leave the safety pin attached and use this as a brooch or tie off the thread and attach it to your zipper pulls on your bag or other items. Add a length of ribbon and use them as a creative bookmark.
