Tips On Saving Money As A Blended Family
++Saving Money As a Blended Family++
When you merge two families together it means more mouths to feed, bodies to clothe, and in general, a buck has to spread a lot further. Today we are looking at a few ways you can save a little money and make the money you do have go a little further.
These tips work not just for blended families, but all families!
Make A Budget
Yes, this is boring and yes it may take a while a few months to get it all on board and for you guys to stick to it. But making a budget of how much money you have coming in each month and what are essentials like food and bills and what is not essentials needs to be worked out. You make a budget and you stick to it and you will notice that your money will indeed last longer. If you know your shopping budget, for example, is 100 bucks and you stick to it, you will not be spending over that when you go grocery shopping which is easily done when you do not have a budget.
Get Cheaper Utilities
You may not know this, but you have the power! The power to change your electricity, gas, TV, internet, and a million other things provider. Never take for granted that the price you are paying is what you have to pay. Look around see who will offer you the lowest monthly payments and join them. Some companies even offer bonuses such as cash and gifts if you change!
Plan Ahead For Birthdays, Christmases & Other Occasions
You know that birthdays and Christmas is coming so why wait until the last moment to pay for it? If one of the kids has a birthday coming up in August then start saving a few bucks, even if it is just five or ten, each month leading up to it. It will mean that when their birthday does come, you do not have to spend a ton of money in that month. Putting away a couple of bucks a month can make a big difference.
Cut Back On Luxuries
Yes, this is hard, but it does not have to be the end of the world and the kids will get on board if you make it exciting enough. For example instead of having take away pizza once a week, buy a nice big one from the store (for a much lower price) and still have pizza night. Just call it pizza night, make it fun and the kids will not care where it is coming from. Having a movie night at home instead of going to the movies, buy cheaper shampoo, conditioner and other products. Just cut back on things that are really not essential and you will be amazed at how much money you are saving each month.
Ok so you have set a budget, you have cut down on your luxuries, have a little bit of extra money in the bank and then BAM the boiler breakers, the car needs some repairs, the roof is leaking or some other “incident” happens that is going to be a drain on your finances. This sucks big time and is something we all have gone through, but do not get discouraged. Take care of what needs fixing and just move on. It may mean you have to tighten your belt a little bit more one month or maybe even have to break out the credit card! But if you keep on making a budget, watching what you spend and keep up your good habits then you will get back on track after a setback like a car breaking down!
