Today we have a fun activity that you can do with your kids. Sugar cookies are awesome and kids love to bake, plus mixing them with superheroes makes them extra fun. Just down below we have a simple recipe for you to make some tasty superhero sugar cookies!
What You Need
The ingredients we have here will be enough to make at the very most 3 dozen sugar cookies. But this will vary, depending on the size of your cookies and how much of the batter your kid eats as you are making them.
¾ cup of unsalted softened butter (works out at about 1 and a half stick of butter)
1 cup of granulated sugar
1 large egg
1 large egg yolk
2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
2 and a half cups of all-purpose flour (any brand will do)
1 teaspoon of baking soda
Half a teaspoon of salt (kosher salt)
How To Make Your Superhero Cookies!
This is a very easy to follow recipe and the kids can get really involved, but we must warn you there is a chance that after eating these you may all develop incredible superpowers!
Step1: Fire up the oven to around 350 degrees.
Step 2: Line your baking trays with parchment paper to stop the cookies from sticking to the tray.
Step 3: Get a large mixing bowl. Put the butter and the sugar in the bowl and give a real good mix. You want it to be very fluffy and look kind of pale. It is best if you start it off and then let your child have a turn.
Step 4: Put the egg in the bowl and mix again, once mixed you can add the egg yolk and the vanilla extract. Stir until it is all mixed together good. It is great to let your child be involved in the mixing process, but make sure you have given it a good mix around as well as smaller kids can struggle to get it all blended in properly.
Step 5: Make sure there is not a load of the mixture on the side of the bowl and then add the baking soda and salt. Now that all of your ingredients have been added, you want to give it a really good mixing, mix it like you have the power of The Hulk and it will take just a few minutes.
Step 6: Use a spoon to take some of the mixture out and place onto the baking tray. Give each cooking a little press with your hand to flatten it. Try not to put them too close together and bake just one sheet of cookies at a time.
Step 7: Bake for 8 – 12 minutes, keeping a good eye on them as you do. You want to take them out just as the edges are starting to turn brown. This ensures you have nice and soft cookies! Take them out of the oven and leave them to cool while you bake the next batch.
Time To Hero Up!
So what makes these superhero cookies? Well, this is where you let your child have some real fun. Get some basic icing, you can either make your own or just get the kind that comes in little squeezable tubes, which is easier for smaller children.
The easiest cookies you can make are Captain America Shields and Spider-Man spider webs.
For Captain America, you will want red, white and blue icing. Let your child make Captain Americas Shield. It is very easy to do as all they need to do is a couple of circles and then a little star in the middle.
Spider-Man’s spider web cookies are even easier! You just use red and black icing. Cover the cooking with the red icing and then use the black to make the web designs.
These are just two ideas for superhero cookies, you can actually use this sugar cookie recipe to make any kind of fun cookies your child wants, just make sure you get an icing that is easy for them to use and they will have an awesome, but very sticky time.

My wife made cookies similar to these and although they were very good, it also made the kids they were toys. So not only did they eat them, but they played with them and you can imagine the mess. The wonders of being a parent :)
