5 Ways to Get the Most Out of Your Day

People often have a long list of things that they'd like to do if they just had more time. Other life obligations—like the work week, daily chores or taking care of children—usually get in the way. Such obligations are important. However, life is short. You want to make the most out of each day and not be caught up in cyclic drudgery. Here are five ways to increase enjoyment each day.

Sleep Well

Feeling exhausted from a poor night of sleep is a sure way to sabotage your day. You'll be very unproductive, unhelpful to others, and just plain miserable as you struggle through the fog of drowsiness.

To avoid this conundrum, you need to get a solid amount of uninterrupted sleep. Relax and calm yourself before bed, and seek quiet isolation in your bedroom if you can. You may consider upgrading your mattress as well, especially if it's been awhile since the last replacement. You should be spending around a third of each day sleeping, so it's best if your bed is comfortable.

Wear Comfortable Clothes

Uncomfortable clothes or shoes can put a real damper on any activity. You could be touring your favorite city in Europe or soaking in the scenery of the Grand Canyon. However, if you pants are uncomfortably tight or your shoes are giving you horrendous blisters, your constant discomfort may be a more potent memory than you'd like.

Don't suffer through uncomfortable clothes or shoes in your daily life. Treat yourself to well-made clothes and comfortable shoes, like these white leather sneakers. Any money spent to be comfortable on a daily basis is money well spent.

Exercise Regularly

Exercise has many health benefits, both for your mind and your body. Various new movements can be challenging for your mind in addition to taxing your muscles. Also, exercise can be a daily challenge to yourself to become better and better over time.

You don't need a gym either, so don't let that hold you back. Try going for a jog in your neighborhood. You could also go for a leisurely walk through your local park. These exercise options also give you a breath of fresh air and a pleasant change of scenery.

Try a New Hobby

You can try starting a new hobby to add more variety and pleasure to each day. You can engage in your new activity for a short time each day. Before you know it, you'll be a professional!

If you like the outdoors, you could try hiking, camping, canoeing, running, camping, or even fishing. Gardening is also a great option to consider, especially since you can get some fresh produce as a useful byproduct.

For an ongoing activity that can occupy you for years, try collecting. The choice of items to collect is entirely up to you. You could try collecting coins, baseball cards, antique cars, or even sea shells. Collecting is uniquely satisfying in that the time devoted to the hobby is easily visualized with the number of items collected.

There are many hobbies you can pick up, so find something you think you'd like and give it a whirl! Even if you find that you don't particularly care for the activity, that's fine. You can always try another one.

Make Time for Others

Sometimes the best way to spend your time is to spend it with others. Try shooting a friendly text to one of your friends each day. You could also try calling a family member to catch up. Our lives are defined by our relationships with one another. It's a good idea to nurture these bonds with frequent, meaningful conversations.

Life is too short to let slip away day by day. While it's easy to fall into the cycle of only completing life's necessary tasks, it's important to take action to break that cycle by seeking ways to inject enjoyment in each day.
